ONLINE CARD CLASSES: MERRY MAKING DAY 1

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

Hi Everyone,
So excited for another Online Card Class and for day one I decided to try Jennifer McGuire's technique of embossing over embossing but without using the snow effect cause it didn't seem to work with me card (trust me, I tried and had to lop off the bottom of the card!).

I used Ranger's Queen's Gold  embossing powder for the base layer I then stamped MFT's Garden Flourish with versamark and embossed with WOW vintage peacock.  It worked just the way Jennifer said and melted slightly into the gold.  Unfortunately, it was too subtle and a little to elegant to add the white snow embossing so I cut off the mess I made while trying that and made a square card.  I used Avery Elle's Seasons Greetings die and embossed with the same gold.  I cut 3 more layers and adhered them together.  The die comes with holly leaves and berries but I used red glitter stickles for the holly berries which don't show up well at all in the photo.  A little WOS on the leaves and that was it.
Card stock base is MFT Elf Green.

A GLITZY BIRTHDAY CARD

Friday, September 5, 2014

This card is for a childhood friend who remains one of my favorite people to this day.  I am lucky enough to get to see her this week for her birthday.

I first applied the gold embossing paste to the stencil and when it was thoroughly dry I layered distress inks.  I die cut the sentiment our of three layers of the same purple cardstock so the sides would show purple.  I stamped with the gold metallic ink and embossed with the gold tinsel embossing powder (I used the same embossing powder on the edges of the card stock)
Hearts have a glob of Glossy Accents and the whole card was spritzed with a bit of water and then the gold Color Shine.

This is the inside which I totally forgot to photograph before signing (sigh).
It is PTI Framed Love die embossed with the same Ranger gold tinsel

This is the bottom inside which is just a gold foil paper (stash) stamped and embossed in the same gold tinsel.  Hard to photograph with my cell phone but it is a nice and shiny gold on gold that does match the rest of the gold on the card.

LAWN FAWN AND MFT BIRTHDAY CARD

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog

I have a lot of birthday cards to make for April and May.  Grandson's is in the works and the card for hubby is finished.  I used Lawn Fawn Forest Critters but wanted a larger sized trailer which I found in the MFT Roughing It stamp set.  The two work very well together.  I stamped with Memento ink and colored with copics.  I used Mama Elephant Landscape Trio to cut some scrap paper for the green areas and used Simon Says Falling Star Stencil with Wendy Vecchi metallic silver embossing paste on a dark blue scrap for the sky.  There wasn't really any room for a sentiment so I used the Simon Says Happy Birthday die. Then it was just putting it all together with a silver mat and Bazzill shimmer pale blue cardstock for the card.

Since I did the months backwards and this is for May, I really have to get shaking with the April cards. Yikes, I may be late again!

A  little underexposed so you can see the shine of the embossing paste of the stars and the silver embossing on the trailer.
