LAWNSCAPING CHALLENGE: CRITTERS

Sunday, September 21, 2014

Love this challenge, can never get too many critters!  This card, however, morphed from my original idea a bit and took a lot of masking and hand cutting (really don't like to do that) but I think it ended up pretty cute.  There are a lot of supplies which I will try to list tomorrow but I wanted to get this up tonight .

This is my working sketch (using all the masks I made). The original idea was to just cut out the middle but I did't like that and ended up changing it up.

LAWNSCAPING CHALLENGE: WATERCOLORING

Monday, July 28, 2014

So here we are mid-summer and haven't had a minute to get anything done craft wise.  Family visits and trips have been our primary activity so today it has been great to have a chance to work on a card for this challenge.  I opted to do a very bright and shimmery card using LF Critters Ever After and my Twinkling H2O's.  I didn't want any black on the card so I stamped and embossed all the images with Versamark and heat embossed.  The sentiment is from LF So Much to Say.    What I learned from this card: It is hard to glue stuff to twinkling H2O's and for the vellum sentiment I had to resort to spray adhesive and the H2O's look fabulous in person but not so much in the photograph.

LAWNSCAPING CHALLENGE #84: STARS AND STRIPES

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

I have only made one other box card but I thought I would try another for this challenge.  Whew, they take me forever and they are so difficult to photograph.  I used a ton of supplies which I will try to list below after this is entered for the challenge ( we are leaving for Mammoth and I didn't want to have to take this project with me so I worked all morning!).
I was so annoyed at the quality of my photos yesterday that I retook this under my Stella light and I think it is much less washed out.

What looks like white around the edges of the red card stock is actually Encore metallic silver ink (pad).

Back of card which I decided to not put a sentiment on.  Just the stars and another piece of the embossed stripes.

The silver stars are Tim Holtz and in this view you can see the stars stenciled on the back.

This is one of the embossed squares.  I used the Simon Says diagonal stencil and mixed Aleene's Glittler snow embossing paste with Distress reinkers - Festive Berries and  Fired brick. You can see bits of the glimmer.

The stick is a toothepick colored with Copics

The cloud has that puffy Liquid Applique on it and of course the butterfly has a bit of Wink of Stella. The dog tag is Viva Pearl Pen Gold.

LAWNSCAPING CHALLENGE #83: EMBOSSING

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

It has been so hot in Southern California that I decided to do a winter themed card for the embossing challenge.  I am still stuck on my distress marker backgrounds so I did a wintery night background (need to figure out how to do northern lights) and then I versamarked the WHOLE thing and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The WHOLE thing! I then used Stampendous chunky white to get the effect of snow and snow falling. I added a bit of Stamp n Stuffs Kaleidoscope to the snow on the ground.  It was hard to keep the embossing powder on the card and then I had a problem with overheating it and it bubbled and melted.  I colored the rest of the images with my copics and used my embosser tool to press out the back of the igloo to give it a little depth. I attached the pieces with Glossy Accents to hold them onto the shiny background.  Then I embossed the banner and sentiment on an old piece of slightly grayed vellum that had snowflakes on it but they ended up being invisible.  I used a ton of double stick tape on the back because the background piece was very warped from all the embossing.  Hope you like my crazy amount of embossing card!
