MAKE IT CRAFTY: AURORA BOREALIS CHALLENGE

I haven't done a challenge in quite a while but trying to color, paint, create an aurora borealis intrigued me.  I first colored the background with distress inks and splatted the stars.  I used a dry brush and guache paints to create the aurora.  After it was dry I used wink of stella clear to give it a real shimmer effect.  You can sort of see it below.

The cute little snowman is Make It Crafty colored in copics and popped up with foam tape.  This really was a challenge for me but I did enjoy it.

MAKE IT CRAFTY SPOTLIGHT COLORING CHALLENGE

An almost spectacular fail.  Wow, this was really a hard challenge.  Didn't quite get the elipse shape of the spotlight and my beam wasn't quite lined up.  Will have to try this again.
Also, how do you get the shadow shapes correct???  I also noticed that as soon as I upload I see things that I don't when I am looking at the original.  I should have put another white highlight on the right extended foot.  More practice needed but I am committed to posting my learning processes and not just what I am happy with.

30 DAY COLORING CHALLENGE #atthedailymarker30day

I flew home from NY on Saturday so obviously didn't get any coloring done and then I was jet lagged and just plain exhausted.  Yesterday I was functional enough to finish coloring the Make it Crafty lilies that I started in NY and finished the card this am.

30 DAY COLORING CHALLENGE #thedailymarker30day

Today is my last day in NY with my sister and I am quite sad to leave her but glad to get home to my hubby.  In the midst of getting her resettled and packing, I took  break and began to color this wonderful Make It Crafty digi.  Zoe, I just love all these flower stamps!  It is far from finished but I may get to work on it on my 5 hr. flight home tomorrow.  Here is my coloring for today.

MAKE IT CRAFTY PINK ON KRAFT CHALLENGE

Heck, coloring on Kraft is hard!  Tried my Inktense but the water tore up the Kraft paper, couldn't use my Copics so had to try my Polychromos.  Those worked well but I am very inexperienced with them.  I cheated on the ice cream and used Copic opaque white and Perfect Pearls for the sprinkles.  The hardest part was actually seeing what I was doing on the Kraft paper.  I couldn't even see the little bits of white embossing that clung to the paper ( yes I did use antistatic powder).  Frenchie Claudine is such a cute digi image and perfect for this challenge.

Gorgeous Flowers Blooming just for you!

Happy New Year! We hope you have had a wonderful time over the holidays and wish you an amazing 2015!

Today we are excited to be sharing a new release of beautifully illustrated flower stamps from Make it Crafty. They are intricate and delicate with lots of detail and are the perfect choice for many occasions.

These gorgeous new flowers are available in both digital and rubber and the rubber stamps also come with a hand written sentiment, which of course you could use between all the different flowers.

I am so happy to be participating in Make it Crafty's January Blog Hop.  The two stamps that I am using are Birthday Daisies and Roses of Love. 

I stamped PTI's Stone cardstock with MFT'S wood plank background stamp using MFT Grout Gray hybrid ink.  Over that I stamped MIC's new Birthday Daisies using MFT'S hybrid Licorice Black.
For the colored panel I stamped Neenah Solar white in MFT'S Grout Gray to create a very soft image.  The image was colored with my new Faber Castell Polychromos.  These are an ink based pencil and I love how smooth they go on the paper and how well they blend without a build up of wax.
I then attached the ribbon from my stash to the back of the image and attached it with dimensional tape. 

For the Roses of Love I wanted to try a watercolor resist so I stamped with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I watercolored with with Kuretake watercolors and then tried the hot iron technique to remove the embossing.  It almost worked, you can't feel the raised embossing but you can still see a little shimmer of it on the image.  I then took Simon Says Stamps Stitched Square dies and placed three together on the image and ran it through my big shot but kept them attached to each other with washi on the back side.  I matted with a piece of Bazzill gold metallic paper onto PTI 120 lb white cardstock and embossed the sentiment from the stamp in Filigree gold embossing powder.

HYBRID HALLOWEEN CARD

I’ve been wanting to try my hand at Distress Ink Background and a Halloween card for my grandson seemed like the perfect way to do that and to use some of my new Lawn Fawn stamps.  I also wanted a background scene image so I used Make it Crafty’s Eerie Scene digi image but fussy cut it and layered onto the background.

The moon was the hardest image to create from a blank circle.  I downloaded a photo from the internet and then just tried to copy it with copics.  It was so so but I then added Wink of Stella white and clear and that really perked it up although it was hard to photo (you can't see how it shines and the white looks globby).

I love the way the colors pop on the card but I don’t like my afterthought of the added silver stamped stars.  I think they are too big for the scene. The distress ink background was fun to create and I think I will be using this technique a lot.  The colors are amazingly vibrant.  All the images were colored with copics.

I hate fussy cutting but i wanted the stamped images to look like the digi images so didn't want the extra white border. 

You can't see the Wink of Stella glitter on the wings  in the photo but it looks great in person
