THROWBACK THURSDAY OR A CARD THAT I DID A LONG TIME AGO AND FORGOT ABOUT? PIXIE DUST STEAM TRAIN

Thursday, May 29, 2014

I think I forgot to post this card cause the photos were just awful (blurry and washed out).  The image is from Pixie Dust Studio and I made it in March 2012.  Oh dear.  Colored in Copics and some distress inking on the  background.  The card looked terrific in person.

MO MANNING BABY CARD AND ONESIE

Monday, May 26, 2014

This was my second card and iron on transfer onesie.  They really are my favorite way to make a baby gift and pretty darn easy to do.  I love Mo Manning's images and this is her "Late".  Such a cute bunny with his big floppy ears.  Colored with Copics and iron on transferred to the onesie. The sentiment was cut from a 12 x 12 sheet of vellum sentiments that was from my stash and mounted with brads.  The technique for this is to color your image, save it to your computer and then you can print it on to the onesie.  You can see that I haven't managed to "flip" my image so it is the reverse of the original.  Next time.

This is a little washed out but you can see how big you can make the image.

Supplies:
Copic sketch markers

MEMORY BOX BUTTERFLY WASHI BIRTHDAY CARD

The odd thing about this card was that I didn't plan to make it, but lying in bed one night I started thinking about all my washi tape that I wasn't using and this idea just popped into my head. The washi tape is perfect to alter a background but lets the kraft paper show through.  I love the shimmer paper under the MEMORY BOX butterfly.  This is another card that I made a while ago and can't find my list of supplies.

Avery Elle Knotty, Avery Elle Fanfare, birthday card

This little card was for one of my favorite co-worker's birthday.
The glowing sun effect wasn't easy for me but she loved the card.
I've had those tiny starfish in my stash for ages (decades) and this was
the only one I ever used.  So cute.

TRYING TO CATCH UP.....HAHAHAHA! TWO BIRTHDAY CARDS

Monday, May 19, 2014

I finished a bunch of cards in April that I haven't had a chance to post yet.  All that watercoloring sure took a lot of time (just loved it).  Check out ONLINECARDCLASSES.COM!
Anyway, here is a card I made for one of my daughters who loves to golf.

Inky Antics cute stamp for golf or tennis was the perfect image (can't wait to use the tennis one) colored with Copics.

And while I am getting caught up with card posts, here is her card from 2012.  I can't believe
I can't even find the page with the supply info.  I do know that the die is Memory Box Tessatina border die.

ONLINE CARD CLASSES WATERCOLOR DAY 11 PLAY DAY

Saturday, May 17, 2014

How sad that this wonderful class is over but so happy I participated.  Now what will I watch tomorrow morning with my tea?

I loved today's bonus videos but I had started this piece and spent sometime today finishing it.  It is all done with Distress Inks.  The stamp is from Stampendous- Bowl bouquet.  I embossed with Hero Arts detail white embossing powder.

ONLINE CARD CLASSES WATERCOLOR DAY 9

Thursday, May 15, 2014

I used to draw a lot as a child and young adult but didn't have much time as an adult so like anything you don't practice your ability wanes.  I rarely draw anymore so today's class was a little intimidating. I loved Kristina's card and wanted to do something colorful and immediately thought of birds. Right? What is more colorful than a parrot or a toucan.  Here is my less than successful attempt.  Problems:  Getting bright colors and still having a "watercolor" look; how to get straight lines and still look loose and free flowing; getting a multi-color layered look for a solid color image.  So while I didn't like the finished result, I thought I would post anyway in case anyone else is having these problems.  I used a combo of the Koi watercolors and the Twinkling H20's, Lawn Fawn Milo's ABC's.

ONLINE CARD CLASSES WATERCOLOR DAY 8

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Best class day ever.  Tasnim's technique for pushing and puddling I just had to try.  So in between chores today this is what I painted.  I used all Distress Inks, pens, pads and reinkers.
There are areas that I am not completely happy with but I had so much fun.  Haven't decided what to do with the image yet but wanted to share.  Next I want to try Dawn's technique but definitely intimidating (but I do own that stamp so maybe tomorrow...).

ONLINE CARD CLASSES WATERCOLOR DAY 6

Saturday, May 10, 2014

Somehow last night I forgot I was having a dinner party for ten. Well I didn't really forget but I was hoping it wasn't going to take me all day to prepare (hahaha).   Obviously, no time to really play today but I did a stamped image watercolor last night after work and I just got it mounted on a card.  So a tiny bit accomplished and started another stamped image (not much done though). So here is my attempt at a "painterly" card.  And by the way this is one of the best classes ever and if you ever had any desire to use watercolors on your cards, this class is a must.

ONLINE CARD CLASSES WATERCOLOR DAY 5

Friday, May 9, 2014

Friday is work day for me so all I had time for really, really early this am was to assemble a
card I made from yesterdays class.  I chose to the tiger lily that I painted because I actually liked the way it turned out.   So here is the completed and very simple card and tonight I am gonna
play with those paints.  I even got my Peerless Paints in the mail today and YAY tomorrow is Saturday!

ONLINE CARD CLASSES WATERCOLOR DAY 4 JUST PAINTING

Thursday, May 8, 2014

So no completed cards as yet but just these two little stamped images.  On the top one I
spritzed the paper with water and then used Distress Markers.  A so so result I think.  I find using the Distress Markers very difficult compared to my Copics.

The bottom image was a combo of watercolors and Inktense pencils and I am happy with the way that one turned out although it doesn't have that nice loosey-goosey watercolor effect.  Which do you like better?

ONLINE CARD CLASSES WATERCOLOR - FIXING YESTERDAYS CARD

Good Morning everyone.

My card yesterday made me grumpy so I decided to try to fix it.   I used my Derwent Inktense pencils to give the balloons a little more definition and I couldn't resist using Wink of Stella clear on them too.  The bunny could not be saved so I stamped another and used the pencils to color, cut and glued over the original bunny.  Not perfect but better.

ONLINE CARD CLASSES WATERCOLOR DAY 3

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

My day started out really horribly, one of my credit cards was stolen and I had to deal with that mess then my iPad suddenly wouldn't connect to the internet, another call had to be made to ATT and those never are quick. Whew.  I had a few minutes mid day to try one of the techniques, FAILURE!  Couldn't get the technique that Jennifer Mcguire showed today.
But it is now 7 pm and I have had another go at it and woohoo it worked.  I tried a smaller
acrylic block and that seemed to do the trick.   However, I am so tired that I really didn't do a great job on finishing the card.  I should have paper pieced the stamped images (Mama Elephant) but my brain function and creativity at this hour is zilch and on top of that I had to photo using artificial light. Fingers crossed for no glitches tomorrow!

ONLINE CARD CLASSES WATERCOLOR DAY 2

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

Watched the videos while having my tea this morning and was so happy! Everyone is so inspiring and no work today so I can PLAY!

I did two cards today, the first I stamped and embossed in Filigree Gold PTI's largest feather in the Feathered Finery stamp set.  I wanted to try using the distress reinkers so I put a few drops of color into a palette and washed them over the paper which is a watercolor paper block by Lanaquarelle.   The paper is smoother than the Tim Holtz paper and I hadn't used it before.  I found that the distress reinkers did not blend as well as I wanted and I got a soft muted background.  I used a sentiment from the same stamp set , matted in gold and attached to a muted green paper from my stash (probably Bazzill).

For my second card I really wanted VIBRANT and I dug out my Twinkling H20's which have been ignored lately and selected Mediterranean Blue, Douglas Fir, Mystic Blue and Lime Squeeze.  I used the same stamp set from PTI and decided to emboss in clear on the same watercolor paper block.  When using the H20's I use a dropper to put a few drops of water in each pot and let it sit for a minute.  With the paper wet I applied the paint.  Wow, I was much happier with the result.  The colors blended beautifully and they had that wonderful sheen.  I stamped with an AmyR sentiment from her Elegant Greeting set.  A note about watercolor blocks.  They resolve a lot of problems with paper warping but it is (for me anyway) hard to get the paper off the block.  You have to insert a craft knife or spatula tool to separate the paper from the block.  Then it is easy to pull off and easy to get the little bits of glue off.  I matted on PTI topical teal cardstock and then onto PTI heavyweight white cardstock.  The little drippage on the upper right corner makes me a little crazy so I am trying to ignore it.

Online Card Classes watercolor background card

Monday, May 5, 2014

My second card today was made using the distress ink background technique.  I really got my paper really wet so had to wait a while for it to dry.  I embossed with Silver Filigree onto 40 lb Bazzill vellum using a 7 Gypsies stamp.  Attached the vellum with Kool Tac and then the whole panel onto Bazzill shimmer cardstock and added some iridescent sequins.   ( I photographed the card on its side if it looks a little hanging in space ish)

I forgot to mention that I spritzed the paint with Perfect Pearls.

Online Card Classes Watercolor for card makers

I have been so excited to start this class!  Woohoo, finally!  I have been wanting to do a watercolor resist technique and thought I would try that today.  I also did a watercolor background but it is still drying so will have to wait till later to make a card.  I love this sunflower stamp from Stampendous and I embossed using white ultra detail embossing powder onto Tim Holtz watercolor paper (the smooth side).  I used Dr. Martin's Hydrus watercolors to loosely  paint the flowers and leaves.  I also used the paints for the background.  Sentiment stamp is from Papertrey Ink Wishes come true and it is mounted on  PTI kraft paper.
