30 DAY COLORING CHALLENGE: WINE CRATE LID AND DISTRESS INKS

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

I am so happy that KATHY RACOOSIN has started another 30 DAY COLORING CHALLENGE.  For today's coloring project I had this weird idea to color one of my husband wine box lids.  He has a whole collection that he has been putting on the wall of his wine storage here in Mammoth Lakes.  Some of the art work is so pretty that I thought it would be fun to paint one.  After a bit of experimenting with the limited supplies that I have up here, I opted to use distress inks which seemed to stain the wood nicely.  I forgot to take a before picture but here is one of my next lid to paint.

Won't this be fun to tackle!

This was the lid that I thought would be a good test.  It was easy and fun and I think it came out great and I only used distress inks!

  1. I knew my husband would like to see your coloring project, so had to get him to come look. We're both into genealogy and he likes the coat of arms.
Have you given the wood a coat of clear finishing spray to seal it?

    1. So glad you liked it. Nope, no varnish or finishing spray. It is going to hand in a wine closet.
